RALLY NEWS: VW's New Generation Polo R WRC Car

VW's NEW GENERATION POLO R WRC CAR

VOLKSWAGEN TODAY (THURSDAY) LAUNCHED A SPORTY-LOOKING SECOND GENERATION OF ITS POLO R WRC WITH WHICH IT WILL CHALLENGE FOR A HAT-TRICK OF DRIVERS’ AND MANUFACTURERS’ TITLES IN THE 2015 FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP.

The German squad is the last of the major teams to unveil the car with which it will launch its campaign at Rallye Monte-Carlo (22 - 25 January).
The most noticeable aspect is its revised livery. The front half has changed from white to dark blue, while white and light blue stripes merge into a white rear, which sports a new wing.
The biggest technical innovation is the hydraulic gearbox, which new regulations mean can be operated by a paddle shift on the steering column.
Many of the carryover components from the 2014 car have been fine-tuned with the aim of making the package simpler, lighter and stronger.

The new Polo R will debut at Rallye Monte-Carlo
Sébastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala completed their final testing for Monte-Carlo this week and double world champion Ogier is confident the new Polo R will be as successful as its predecessor.
“We have done a lot of testing and we drivers have worked very closely with the engineers,” he said. “We put a lot of effort into developing the new paddle shift, which represents real progress.
“It will be exciting to see how we fare against other teams. The tests have gone well so far, our engineers have done a good job,” said Ogier.
Andreas Mikkelsen will remain in the 2014 car for the first four rounds. His first appearance in the 2015 version will be at Vodafone Rally de Portugal (21 - 21 May).

RALLY NEWS: Dakar - Orlando Terranova continues Mini’s dominance; Robby Gordon finishes 15th

DAKAR: ORLANDO TERRANOVA CONTINUES MINI'S DOMINANCE; RODDY GORDON FINISHES 15TH

Even without Nani Roma in contention, the Minis are still coming up big early on in the 2015 Dakar Rally.
Roma’s chances of defending his Dakar title were finished in Sunday’s opening stage, but fellow Mini drivers Nasser Al-Attiyah and Orlando Terranova have stepped up to keep the marque up front.
In Tuesday’s Stage 3 from San Juan to Chilecito, Argentina, Terranova made up for his Monday crash that cost him a possible win by taking the top spot at 1 minute, 54 seconds quicker than Toyota’s Giniel de Villiers.
“…We can’t think about strategy in a situation like this, but just have to push,” Terranova said in a release afterwards.
The stage win also propels Terranova from 10th to third in the overall standings, which are still being led by Al-Attiyah.
The Qatari followed up his Monday win with a fifth-place performance on Tuesday, and his overall edge over de Villiers currently sits at 5 minutes, 18 seconds.
“To open the stage is not easy because we needed to be careful with the navigation and because there were no bikes opening the stage,” Al-Attiyah said. “In some places, there was no road, but [co-driver] Matthieu [Baumel] did a really good job. We didn’t take any risks.
“Our plan was to lose a little bit for tomorrow because tomorrow, it is very important to start in at least the Top-5 and to push like [Monday], when we achieved a very good time.”
As for de Villiers, he overcame a tire puncture that occurred when his Toyota Hilux hit a rock while running in a river bed.
“I was a little bit annoyed with myself that I hit the rock, but anyway we had to push again,” he said. “There were one or two places that were quite tricky with the navigation, but [co-driver] Dirk [von Zitzewitz] did a good job.
“Then it was very bumpy for the second part of the stage. It was really bumpy and at quite high speed, so you really had to concentrate a lot to avoid making a mistake, because you could easily make a big mistake there.”
Toyota’s Yazeed Alrajhi came home third on Tuesday, followed by Carlos Sainz of Peugeot, who moved up to fourth in the overall with, what else, a fourth-place finish. Roma, despite his crippling setback last weekend, also appears to have found his rhythm again with a sixth-place run.
Also bouncing back somewhat was Robby GordonMechanical problems on Monday cost him and co-driver Johnny Campbell more than four hours overall, but the No. 308 Gordini responded Tuesday with a solid 15th-place showing at almost 22 minutes behind Terranova.
The duo had to work hard for the result following an early tire puncture that forced them to re-pass several cars they had gotten by at the start of the stage.
However, Gordon and Campbell lost a bit of time in the overall standings to the leader as well. They now sit 40th on the big board at four hours, 24 minutes, 18 seconds off the pace.
Monday’s Stage 2, the longest of the rally, has appeared to take a serious toll. More than 30 cars failed to take the start for Tuesday; among those unable to continue was the lone all-female driving team in the Dakar, Catherine Houles and Sandrine Ridet, in their No. 422 Isuzu.

RALLY NEWS: New for 2015 - Fresh Stages to Master

NEW FOR 2015: FRESH STAGES TO MASTER

THE 2015 WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP WILL VISIT THE SAME COUNTIES AS LAST YEAR, BUT AS THE EVENTS EVOLVE SO DRIVERS CAN EXPECT TO FACE PLENTY OF UNFAMILIAR STAGES.

Fresh Stages to Master

Competition on real roads is part of what makes rallying such a thrill. And because there are plenty of roads about, changing a rally route is relatively straightforward to do. So while some motorsports are tied to the same tracks again and again, the stages of the WRC frequently take drivers into uncharted territory.

This year’s changes start with the opening round, and a Rallye Monte-Carlo route that is 75 per cent different to 2014. The biggest change comes on Friday [23 January], which features three all-new stages in the Hautes Alpes and Isère regions. The stages form a 67km loop which is run in the morning and then again in the afternoon.

The second round in Sweden [12-15 February] has also been modified, with about 20 per cent of the first full day’s icy action new compared to last year. There are exciting changes planned for round three in Argentina too - which you can read about in detail tomorrow on wrc.com.

Exact routes of the rallies after Argentina are yet to be revealed, but having confirmed a switch from the Algarve to a new base 550km north, Vodafone Rally de Portugal will be almost unrecogniseable to the current crop of drivers.

The city of Matosinhos, close to Porto, will host the rally base and service park with the stages running almost as far north as the Spanish border. This is likely to signal the return of Fafe, which attracted more than 100,000 fans to a pre-event rallysprint last year, and other classic tests last used in 2001.

RALLY NEWS: New for 2015 - Rally Car Evolutions

NEW FOR 2015: RALLY CAR EVOLUTIONS

HERE IS A TO-DO LIST FOR 2015 IS TO WATCH OUT FOR THE EXCITING NEW CARS THAT WILL HIT THE STAGES.

Rally Car Evolutions

After a cost-cutting freeze on development in 2014, this season’s rules give manufacturers greater scope to improve their World Rally Cars. The changes will be subtle rather than revolutionary, but at the sport’s top level even the smallest detail can make a big difference.

In the cockpit, the most obvious change will be the reintroduction of steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles, a system that replaces the 2014-spec sequential stickshift. Under the skin, manufacturers can take advantage of a new supply of homologation ‘jokers’, enabling them to make a limited number of mechanical changes to their homologated designs. There are changes too to the minimum weights of some components, allowing greater freedom to play with weight distribution and balance.

The first manufacturer to make full use of the regulations will be Volkswagen, which will introduce an new version of its championship-winning Polo at Rallye Monte-Carlo. Citroen too will introduce changes at the opening round, with the DS3 getting a new engine, developed alongside its World Touring Car unit, new suspension and a paddle gearshift. Two other evolutions are planned by Citroen during 2015, with an aero package scheduled for April and a second step with the suspension in the second half of the year.

M-Sport’s Fiesta RS will have a modified pneumatic gearshift system in time for Monte Carlo. More changes are planned for Vodafone Rally de Portugal, where a new engine, transmission and new hydraulic gear selection system will make their debut. Like M-Sport, Hyundai will start the season with an upgraded version of its 2014-season car, before an all-new model is introduced later in the year.

There are changes to the cars in the Junior World Rally Championship too, where this year’s competitors will drive the more powerful ‘Maxi’ version of the DS3 R3T. Finally, fans of exotic machinery should keep an eye on the FIA’s new Cup for R-GT cars which, for the opening round in Monte Carlo, features three, flat-six Porsche 911s.

Dakar Rally: Polish rider Michal Hernik found dead during third stage

Polish rider Michal Hernik found dead during third stage

 - Hernik discovered 300 metres from track in Argentina
 - Cause of death at kilometre 206 remains unknown
 - Organisers found ‘no external signs of an accident'

The Polish motorcycle rider Michal Hernik has been found dead on the third stage of the Dakar Rally, organisers have announced.
The 39-year-old was discovered 300 metres from the track on the stage from San Juan to Chilecito in Argentina. The cause of death is unknown as Hernik “did not show any external signs of an accident”.
Hernik was competing in his first Dakar Rally and was in 84th place in the bike section of the notoriously dangerous event. He was found on the selective section of the third stage between San Juan and Chilecito at kilometre 206.
A statement from organisers said: “When the race management detected the loss of his Irritrack signal and was informed that he had not completed the special stage at 3.16pm (local time), it decided to start a search for the rider at 3.23.
“An ambulance helicopter found the rider 300 metres off the route at 4.03. Unfortunately, the on-board doctor could only confirm the rider’s death. The whole Dakar family offers its condolences to Michal’s family, close friends and team.”
The annual endurance event is notorious for its fatal accidents, with more than 50 competitors and spectators having lost their lives since the rally’s inception in 1979.
May he Rest In Peace.

Think Like an Entrepreneur

THINK LIKE AN ENTREPRENEUR

The Direct Selling Association acknowledges and encourages launching a home based business with a network marketing company.

Want to know why?

As we all know, the "average Joe" cannot afford to front $500k for a business, but most can purchase product packs ranging $200-$1000 to launch a home business, with enough products to turn around for a worthwhile profit. They can continue that every day, week, month... It's up to them how much they want to make. They control.. everything. They're the boss.

Too many people (including me as of a few years ago) are stuck in a 'go to school, get a degree, and go work for someone for the rest of your life' mindset.

Let's be real for a minute and think about this together...

How many people grow up as a child and say "I want to work my entire life to make someone else rich"?

No one does.

We dream about going above and beyond the little bit we knew as a child. We dream about being the boss, the leader, the woman or man everyone looks up to and wants to follow.

Then we grow up.

We realize it's not that easy to go above and beyond the bravest and boldest. So we seek something that we understand; what our parents and society taught us. Go get a degree, find a job working for someone else, work 40 hours per week, for 40 years and then attempt to enjoy life after we retire at 65 years old. Life is still enjoyable, but it's on their terms.

But... What if we want to enjoy our lives now on our terms?

What do you think all the those wealthy people you see around the country and on T.V. do? Only work for someone else? Nope. They're all entrepreneurs. Business owners, CEOs...

Now, that doesn't mean they won't ever work for someone else again. What they have is the choice to work or not work with someone else by owning other businesses and assets. They are able to maintain that stable and wealthy income, to be able to live the life they want to live, regardless of partnerships because of their entrepreneurialism.

Don't get me wrong...

NOTHING is wrong with a job, especially if you like it. Jobs create great immediate stability. Some people would still love to become entrepreneurs, though. Sometimes people discover they don't want to be apart of the typical system anymore and work for someone else their entire life.

Nothing is wrong with either mindset. One just lives more free.

A home based business is how somone can get their entrepreneurial foot in the door. What also makes a home business great is that not only will you have a team to support you along the way, you can work it part-time and build it into a full-time business when you're ready.

Someone doesn't have to risk a lot of money and they don't have to quit their job. Someone can work it part-time from home (and gain tax benefits like claiming 22% of your rent), on the go, during their lunch, or whenever and where ever they want.

Something a traditional store-front business/franchise cannot offer.

Doctors, lawyers, college students/grads, Mothers, Fathers, military, nurses, HS grads, mechanics, engineers... are just a few of the types of people in the network marketing profession. If you haven't already noticed, there are no specific "types" of people.

Entrepreneurship favors the hardest workers. Not the most book smart.

It's the DRIVE and WHY of someone that makes them want to launch a business of any sort and achieve their version of success. Whether it be 7-11, McDonalds, Massage Envy, Sisel Kaffé... They do it because they love being their own boss.

Employment establishes walls of safety. They are also walls of limitation. You will most likely never be the CEO of the company your work for. That's not necessarily a bad thing... unless you want to be the boss one day.

Entrepreneurship brings fear, stress and the unknown. It can also bring true freedom to enjoy life. Yes, there is risk. Yes, you have to pay to play. By launching your own home based business you control the income. You want to make more than you've ever made in your life? Work hard working a business you control, not just a job that controls you.

Did you know people promote and share products for free all the time?

In this economy, if someone is going to use a product, they might as well get paid to promote and share it.

How many products do you currently use, that you have shared with your friends and family, that you DO NOT get paid for sharing it?

You'd be surprised how much FREE work you're giving to those companies...
